Student-centered Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
A training event in classroom techniques for teachers
13-15. June 2019
Leuphana University Lüneburg
What can I expect at the 3-day event?
After arrival and registration, we will begin the program at 13:30 on Thursday, 13. June and finish our last session at 13:30 on Saturday, 15. June.
During the sessions, you can expect a collaborative environment in which teachers from the six CREATES partner institutions present and share ideas during four thematic sessions and one feedback session. The thematic sessions will focus on seven student-centered classroom techniques:
- Problem-based learning (PBL)
- Case teaching
- Simulation & roleplay
- Research-based learning
- Metacognitive self-reflection
- Reading diaries
Through short lectures, workshops and discussion sessions, participants will share their experiences with each other. The event will specifically focus on the types of courses to which the techniques are suited, the learning goals and outcomes supported by the techniques, and on offering concrete examples and sample materials demonstrating the approaches. You can read more about each of these techniques on our event flyer.
What is covered and what must I pay for myself?
You should book your own travel and accommodations. You will receive your reimbursement as a lump sum sent directly from Leuphana University after the event concludes. The lump sum amounts vary between institutions, please reach out if you have questions.
We warmly invite you to a complementary welcome dinner on Thursday and to complementary lunches on both Friday and Saturday. Coffee breaks will also be included on Friday and Saturday.
Please do not hesitate to contact the CREATES Project Manager, Sara Tomczuk (email@example.com) with any questions or concerns.
What is CREATES?
CREATES stands for “Creating Responsive, Engaging, and Tailored Education with Students”. It is an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership between six European universities with the objective to enhance practices in higher education that foster co-creation and an engaging education for students.
