Metacognitive Self-reflection Teacher Workshop Kit

This kit contains a lesson plan, slides, and handouts for a 2.5 hour workshop for teachers interested in using metacognitive self-reflection in the classroom. The goals of the workshop are to: 

  • introduce the meaning of metacognitive self-reflection,
  • justify it with the reasons/learning objectives for using of this classroom technique, and
  • inspire teachers to support this skill in students.

The workshop was designed for 20-25 teachers, but could easily be adapted to fit a smaller (or slightly larger) group.

Participants need not have previous experience with this technique, but all participants will have the opportunity to consider how they may have encouraged this kind of thinking and reflection in their students thus far and how they could further support this skill in the future.
